Slowing Ourselves Down

"Let us resolve today to ask for what we really want,

and only this,

that we may spend this day in fearlessness,

without confusing pain with joy,

or fear with love."

Have you noticed that as the days got shorter and colder, you have slowed down and going more inwards?

Autumn is when we slow down, go within and let go of what no longer serves us. Just as nature does without any thoughts. Mourning, grieving and forgiveness is part of this process. Without it we cannot make peace with our past. We will find ourselves repeating this cycle until we do. The Lung and the Large Intestine meridians are the organs associated with long term grief, sadness and letting go. Grief in the lungs are like two giant balloons constricting our heart and chest area. These meridians contribute to the health of our mind, body and skin. When these meridians are blocked or imbalanced, we are unable to let go or to express our grief. We either cannot cry or cry too much without knowing the reason why because we are not connected to our body. Common saying is “I don’t know why I’m crying”. JOURNALING PROMPTS: What does safety mean to you? What do you need to do to feel safe in your body? What does letting go mean to you? How is “being in control” protecting you? Write down 5 things that is creating fear? What past event left you helpless, hopeless and deep grief?

When we are unable to grieve or release past trauma, our throat will be blocked too, unable to voice ourselves since it is the bridge between our head and our heart.

May this day of Samhain bring you the gentleness and ease to go within, heal and let go what no longer serves you. May your love and compassion be your grief’s constant companion. May your wise ancestors guide you to connect to your inner wisdom and your healing. May your seeds be planted and nurtured with wisdom, love and compassion.
